Kids love the great American pastime of baseball. There are classes and leagues for all ages and skill levels, from tball to coach pitch to serious baseball. Kids develop motor skills and learn about sportsmanship in baseball.
T Ball
TBall, also known as tee ball, is the little kids version of baseball. The ball sits on a tee so the batter can hit it when he’s ready rather than timing the pitch. Typical t-ball ages are about 4 through 7.
Coach Pitch
The next level in learning baseball is called coach pitch. An adult pitches the ball to the batter with the intent of making it easy to hit. The player learns to judge distance and timing.
Youth Baseball
As they get older, kids baseball becomes much more like the sport played in high school and beyond. If your child is interested in pursuing baseball in high school, playing on a competitive youth baseball team will help him gain the skills he’ll need.
Softball
Softball is the same game, played with a slightly larger and softer ball to reduce the pain or injury of being hit with the ball. Traditionally girls played softball while boys played baseball. Although girls still play in softball leagues, even competitively, softball is also played by anyone who wants to play the sport for recreation.
