San Diego Zoo & Safari Park
Everyone knows that the San Diego Zoo & Safari Park (formerly called the Wild Animal Park) are great places to go for the day to learn about animals up close. You can take a tour, wander around and visit the exhibits you want to see and take in a few shows.
Family Programs
Kids and their parents can go on adventures and learn about animals. Programs explore topics like animals that can see in the dark or how animals communicate.
Camps for Kids
The zoo offers a variety of day camps and even a couple of overnight programs for children. Spring and summer day camps offer a variety of animal-related activities for kids in different age groups. There are art programs where kids learn to draw or photograph the wildlife. A teen survival challenge summer camp is offered just for the older kids.
Zoo Corps Volunteer Program
Teens ages 13 – 17 can volunteer to help teach visitors about the animals. Sessions last about six months. Students who are interested in conservation, education or public speaking can apply for a position. After training the volunteer to work at least once a month. They may work at display stations to help educate zoo visitors or assist in some of the educational programs for kids.
