Soccer for Boys and Girls
Soccer is one of the most popular sports for kids in the U.S., and there’s little wonder why. Children as young as four or five can play. As they grow, soccer grows with them. Many people go on to play in high school and beyond. It’s great for learning teamwork, having fun and getting exercise. It gives kids a structured activity outside of school.
There are many opportunities for kids to get involved in soccer in San Diego. City recreation departments offer introductory soccer teams. Seasons usually last 6-10 weeks. Kids get an opportunity to practice and play games. The amount of time committed each week depends on the childrens’ ages. Kids can get involved in these soccer classes as tots or at any age, and keep playing there as long as they like. Typically these programs are not too competitive.
Soccer Leagues
If a child finds that he really enjoys soccer, wants to increase his or her skill level and is willing to commit more time to the sport, they can join a soccer team. It’s often a little more expensive, and may require travel.
Soccer Camps and Training
There are also many soccer clinics and day camps to choose from at all skill and age levels. If your child wants to work on a specific skill or improve their game overall, those opportunities are everywhere. You can even find coaches that will train with your child one-on-one.
